How we decide what to recommend
Houzhold has been publishing since 2014. Our recommendations draw on a network of industry contacts and housekeeping enthusiasts who buy and use products themselves, alongside manufacturer specifications, retailer data and owner feedback gathered from marketplaces and forums.
Our editors compare that material against consistent criteria: build quality, filtration, running costs, noise, and how a machine performs on the floor types found in most UK homes. Where a product is only worth buying for a specific job, we say so, and where a cheaper model does the same work, we say that too.
We do not accept free products or sponsorship from manufacturers. Nothing can be paid for a place on a list.
